Most Number of Student Playing Violin set World Record

More than 4,600 Taiwanese school children came together for a marathon violin playing session on Sunday, breaking a world record that had stood for 86 years.

An official from organization said that, 4,645 children aged under 18 at a stadium in central Changhua county, The performance was 30 seconds longer than the required minimum of five minutes, it said.

"Creating a world record is not our goal. The event is to review a music education promotion programme for schoolchildren launched seven years ago," Chang Chueh-fen, a county official, told AFP

The previous world record was set in 1925 in London when 4,000 violinists performed.

Nelda Mercer, a registered dietitian and former spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association, said using the larger-than-life chocolate bar to discuss portion control is a great way to capture the kids' attention. "When you're trying to teach children about things like moderation and how to have a healthy relationship with food, having something that really makes them sit up and take notice helps make the message memorable."

"The tour of the chocolate bar also will include an educational video of "kids talking to kids" and original music to communicate the importance of active lifestyles and healthy eating," said Opler. The messages make exercise and portion control synonymous with "the good life" and stress that chocolate and other treats should be eaten only in moderation. About the Bar

An official of Guinness World Records verified the record after the bar was hoisted on a warehouse beam and weighed on a scale provided by Abacus Scales. The previous record was held by an Armenian company for a bar that weighed 9,722 pounds.

Bridgette Jordan (22) from Sandoval, Illinois, stands 2 feet 3 inches (69 cm) and also holds the record for shortest living siblings with her 20 year-old brother Brad. Jordan breaks the record of 22-year-old Elif Kocaman, from Kadirli, Turkey, who measured 2 feet 4.58 inches (72.6 cm).
